Kate Baldwin to Bring the Songs of Will Van Dyke to Sheen Center

The Sheen Center, New York's new downtown cultural venue at 18 Bleecker Street, presents beloved, rising Broadway star and Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow, Songbird) in KATE BALDWIN & FRIENDS: The Girl Who Stayed - The Songs of Will Van Dyke.

Celebrating the music of Will Van Dyke on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 7:30pm, Baldwin will be joined by some incredible young talent - Matt Doyle (The Book of Mormon, Spring Awakening), Jessica Vosk (Fiddler on the Roof, Finding Neverland) and The Whiskey Five. The rare collaboration amongst these beloved artists will be a night to remember for Broadway audiences.

Heralded for her ability to sing any genre, KATE BALDWIN AND FRIENDS will focus Baldwin's immense talents on the music of composers who hold special meaning for her. This concert is devoted to hip, contemporary musical theater composer Will Van Dyke whose songs have been performed at venues all over the country. His works include The Girls I've Like Liked at Ars Nova, The Lion King Jr. for Disney and the upcoming Magnificent Climb with Tony Award winner Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), Imagine Harry and Wintersong with Jeff Talbott, and Writing Kevin Taylor with Josh Halloway. Directed by Jeff Talbot, the concert will feature two of Broadway's fastest rising talents Matt Doyle and Jessica Vosk, in addition to Baldwin. The vocal trio will be joined and led by Van Dyke and backed by his band, The Whiskey 5.

Ms. Baldwin is best known for her breakout leading Broadway role in Finnian's Rainbow, which earned her Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations (New York Times). Additionally, Baldwin has appeared in the Broadway productions of Big Fish, The Full Monty, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Wonderful Town; the acclaimed off-Broadway productions of Songbird, Jon and Jen (Drama Desk nom.) and Giant (Drama Desk nom.); as well as in concerts with the New York Pops, Encores! and the American Songbook series at Lincoln Center.

Since the age of 19, Matt Doyle has made a name for himself with standout performances in the Broadway hits Spring Awakening, Bye, Bye, Birdie, War Horse, and The Book of Mormon. In addition to Broadway, Doyle has released two critically acclaimed solo albums, Daylight and Constant. He has also worked in film and TV, starring in the cult hit, Private Romeo, and as Jonathan in the CW's "Gossip Girl." Doyle most recently starred in the off-Broadway smash, Brooklynite, directed by Tony award-winning, Michael Mayer. Jessica Vosk is currently starring in the acclaimed Broadway revival, Fiddler on the Roof as Fruma-Sarah. Additionally, Vosk was seen on Broadway in the fan-favorite, Finding Neverland, as well as Merrily We Roll Along and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at Encores!.

The first KATE BALDWIN & FRIENDS concert: "Welcome to My Party", on Sunday, February 28, honored the music of five time Tony Award nominee Michael John LaChuisa (The Wild Party). Called "intimate and excellent," by The Reviews Hub, Baldwin was joined by Alexander Gemignani (Sweeney Todd, Les Mis), Katie Thompson (Giant, Pump Boys & Dinettes) and Allison Blackwell (A Night with Janis Joplin, Porgy and Bess). Mary-Mitchell Campbell arranged and led a 5-piece band.
