BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the new musicAl Morgan STREET, from Tony Award-winning actress Anika Noni Rose, will have an exclusive reading March 31st.

The cast of the by-invitation reading includes Tony nominees Kate Baldwin and Brandon Victor Dixon, as well as Christian Campbell and Aisha de Haas; it will be rounded out by David Garry, Renee Freeman,  Trista Dollison, Samantha Blain, Jonathan Burke, Brianna HorneRobert Hartwell, Maik Reif, Nicholas Dean Park, Madelyn Valenzuela, and Amanda Williams.

Last month, Anika Noni Rose told BroadwayWorld's Pat Cerasaro that MORGAN STREET "[is] about a young man who is adopted in the seventies. The seventies was a time when a lot of people didn't tell their children they were adopted, you know. It's a dramedy. It's about some very heavy things, but it's very funny and the music is pretty amazing - if I do say so myself! So, it's very exciting."

As for the score, she stated that: "Not so much disco, but we've definitely got lots of stuff. We've got some Carole King-y type stuff in there. Some R&B. Some funk. It really reflects the time period."

While Rose has distinguished herself in film (Dreamgirls, Disney's The Princess & The Frog), television (The Good Wife, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency), and on Broadway (Caroline, or Change, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), MORGAN STREET showcases her talents as a writer and producer. The music was written by Rose with and Eugene Gwozdz and Jeremy Alan Richards, who also wrote the book and lyrics.
