Joshua Young's WHO MOURNS FOR BOB THE GOON? Gets Showcase at Dixon Place Tonight
Dixon Place presents a showcase production of Joshua Young's WHO MOURNS FOR BOB THE GOON? tonight, October 30th at 10pm.
Directed by Lucia Bellini, this black comedy tells the story of a man who believes he's the obscure comic book character 'Bob the Goon,' a loyal Joker henchman from the Batman comics. The audience follows Bob as he attends a special therapy group for individuals who all think they are, or were, third tier comic book characters. Bob starts to unravel after a new woman is admitted into the group who believes she's from an anime, not a comic.
The characters explore their past as the play switches from their realistic lives and settings to the fantastical comic book realms they think they inhabit. These fantastical realms range from Bob the Goon's 'Batman vs. Joker' world to a post-apocalyptic Land of Oz (complete with munchkin zombies and Gestapo like tin-men.) WHO MOURNS FOR BOB THE GOON? will be presented on Friday, October, 30th at 10 pm.
The cast will feature Michael Fewx* as Bob (the Goon), Elise Hudson* as Langly (Asuka Langly Soryu), John Carhart as Jonathan, Phillip Christian* as Jim (The Spectre), Dani Baum* as Sybil (Spiral), Matthew Rini as Artie (Mr. Gone), Jolynn Carpenter as Alison (The Dazzler) and Matt Mingle as The Laughing Man. *Appear courtesy of Actor's Equity.
Advance tickets can be purchased at www.DixonPlace.org. Tickets are $12.00 general admission and $10.00 for students and seniors. Admmission is $15.00 at the door, day of the show. Dixon Place is located at 161A Chrystie Street in New York City.

Lucia Bellini co-produces and co-directs original films with her husband George Basiev, and she is a founding member of the theatre company WedRepCo. She won Outstanding Direction of a Staged Reading from Planet Connections for her work on Bob.
Dixon Place, an incubator for performing and literary artists since 1986, is a non-profit organization committed to supporting the creative process by presenting original works of dance, theater, music, circus arts, puppetry, literature, performance and visual art at all stages of development.
