The producers of Joaquín Cortés: Mi Soledad announced today that the show's December 2006 Broadway engagement has been canceled due to an illness in the Cortés family.

Joaquín Cortés: Mi Soledad was scheduled to play a limited engagement at Broadway's Palace Theatre beginning Monday, December 11, 2006 and continuing through Friday, December 22.  The engagement would have marked the Broadway debut of the internationally celebrated flamenco dance star.

"It is unfortunate that we must now cancel what promised to be a very rewarding Broadway engagement for Joaquín and for the entire Mi Soledad company," said producer Jeff Rowland. "But due to circumstances beyond our control, it is most important that Joaquín be with his family right now, and our thoughts are with them during this time. After the holidays, we will begin looking at options for bringing Mi Soledad to New York in 2007."

An international phenomenon, Joaquín Cortés: Mi Soledad has triumphantly played many of the world's capital cities since its 2005 Mexico City debut, including engagements in London, Venice, Milan, Paris, Tokyo, Lisbon, Lima, Madrid, Kiev, Moscow, Barcelona and Buenos Aires.

The Broadway engagement was to be presented by Gypsy Productions Inc., SuperFrank, Jeff Rowland and Foye Johnson.
