Interview: Antonia Bennett Proves She's More Than the Daughter of a Legend at NYC's Iridium

Singer Antonia Bennett is more than just the daughter of a legend. With her unique style, she’s carving out a remarkable career that adds new depth to the legacy of American jazz. Her voice is sultry and sophisticated, sassy and classy—capturing the timeless allure of jazz while firmly anchoring it in today’s musical landscape. The singer is coming to NYC’s Iridium (located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan) on Thursday June 18 at 8:30 pm as part of a larger tour to celebrate the release of her new album, Expressions. Expressions is a beautifully stylistic jazz-pop record with endearing influences of Bennett's late father, the iconic Tony Bennett, while also featuring impressive original Bennett compositions that are gracefully intertwined with The Great American Songbook titles. (Stream the album on Spotify and Apple Music here.)

Below, read a conversation with Antonia about the new album, NYC concert, and more.

How does it feel to be coming back to NYC at the Iridium next month?
I always love playing NYC. It’s my hometown, and I have family and friends there who I love dearly. The Iridium is also incredibly special to me. I was good friends with Les Paul, who played there every week for years. I can’t step into that place without thinking of him and all the great memories we shared there.

What has the response to your new album been like so far?
People really seem to love it, which makes me so happy because I put a lot of love and care into making it.

What was setting up and recording the album like? Did anything particularly memorable or revelatory happen during the recording or editing process?
Well… the most memorable thing for me was the incredible team of musicians and engineers I worked with. They all made me feel so comfortable, and because of that, I was able to really relax and just fall naturally into what I do.

How does it feel to be carrying on your father's musical legacy?
Music was something my father and I always had in common. We would go out and see concerts together often, and we shared a lot of the same musical tastes. It was something really beautiful that we were able to bond over. I’m happy that people feel I’m carrying on his legacy. Music will always be a huge part of my life.

Aside from the new album and your upcoming tour, are you working on any other projects you'd like to share with us?
I’m actually working on two new projects right now. One is a Bossa Nova project, and the other I’m not allowed to talk about just yet. But I will say I’ve been collaborating with some really fantastic artists that I think my fans are going to love.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I can’t wait to see all the fans out at the upcoming shows
