David Wilmot, who stars in the title role of Broadway's The Lieutenant of Inishmore, will be featured on NY-1's "On Stage" this Saturday 6/3 and Sunday 6/4 at 9:30am and 7:30pm, and Monday 6/5 at 9:30pm and 12:30am. "On Stage" correspondent Patrick Pacheco will talk with Wilmot about his role in Broadway's funniest comedy.
In addition, Mihail Gartenberg of "Studio A" will interview Wilmot on WKCR-fm Radio (89.9fm) on Monday, June 5 at 9:30pm.
The Lieutenant of Inishmore
has received five Tony Award® nominations: Best Play, Best Direction of
a Play Wilson Milam, Best Actor in a Play Wilmot, Best
Featured Actor in a Play Domhnall Gleeson, Best Featured Actress in a
Play Alison Pill. And, playwright Martin McDonagh,
won a 2006 Village Voice Obie Award, Off Broadway's highest honor.
Wilmot, Gleeson and Pill are all making their Broadway debuts in the
play.The show has also received two Lucille Lortel
Awards: Outstanding Play and Outstanding Lead Actor for David Wilmot,
and the Drama League has honored cast members Gleeson and Wilmot for their distinguished performances. The play
opened at the Lyceum Theatre on May 3rd after beginning Broadway
previews April 18th. Previously, the show played a hit Off-Broadway run
at the Atlantic Theater Company.
The production marks the American premiere of McDonagh's Olivier
Award-winning play. Directed by Wilson Milam, it stars Brian D'Arcy
James (Sweet Smell of Success), as well as Pill, Gleeson,
and Wilmot. Also included in the play's cast are Jeff Binder, Andrew
Connolly, Dashiell Eaves, and Peter Gerety.
