I'M MINDFUL...OF MY ANXIETY Opens 9/22 at Medicine Show Theatre

'I'm Mindful ...of my Anxiety', a one woman show written and performed by Elizabeth Wine will take place at Medicine Show Theatre on Friday and Saturday evening from September 22nd thru October 14th. Ashley Wren Collins directs.

Mindfulness is typically associated with awareness and clarity over our lives and actions. But for Elizabeth Wine mindfulness is shattered by a frantic mental kaleidoscope which compels her to absorb so much information at any one moment that her concentration is always in jeopardy, and her nerves are always on end. A willing student, she's tried to conquer her fractured focus by learning a host skills...yoga, acting classes that emphasized the embodiment of animals and elusive attempts to master the French language. What happened to cause her such anxiety? From dutiful student in her early years, praised by her mother for her remarkable memory, to a hyper financial reporter, trying to satisfy demanding editors while advising readers on investments that would protect them from eating catfood in their dotage, Elizabeth found her mind being turned from steel trap to jello. The best help, however, in her quest to remain calm in an increasingly frantic world may come from two unlikely sources...Beethoven and Joe DiMaggio.

Elizabeth Wine is an NYC based writer, actor and theater producer who after a successful career as a journalist and digital consultant returned to her first love, the theater. She became a company member of the Obie Award winning Medicine Show Theatre and is now on their Board of Directors as the theater nears its half century mark. The two disparate realms of theater and journalism overlap in Elizabeth's lifelong passion for storytelling.

Ashley Wren Collins is a director, choreographer, actor and writer who received an MFA from the Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University. She is the director/choreographer of the Off Broadway hit Flak House and has choreographed productions of Honestly Abe and Foxy Ladies Love Boogie '70s Explosion. She also directs new works and thesis projects of MFA and BFA candidates for Dramatic Writing at NYU and is herself the recipient of a Writing Fellowship from the Edward F. Albee Foundation. Acting credits include Shades at Cherry Lane Theatre, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Boardwalk Empire and Mother Eve's Secret Garden of Sensual Sisterhood for which she won "Outstanding Leading Actress" and was nomininated for "Outstanding Choreography".

'I'm Mindful....of my Anxiety' will begin Friday September 22nd at Medicine Show Theatre (549 West 52nd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, 3rd Floor). The performance schedule is Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30PM thru October 14th. Tickets are $20. For Tickets and information go to https://www.anxietyplay.com/tickets.
