Howard Shore Rehearses with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus

On September 23rd, Howard Shore, the Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe-winning composer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, rehearsed with the Grammy Award-winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus at their studios in Brooklyn Heights for their Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th performances of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring concert live to film at Radio City Music Hall. At the concert, Mr. Shore's complete score will be performed live by over 300 musicians and singers beneath an immense 60-foot screen to Peter Jackson's award-winning epic.
The Brooklyn Youth Chorus is one of the country's leading children's choruses and is the ensemble of choice for collaborations with internationally renowned orchestras and artists. BYC choristers have toured Russia, the United Kingdom, Canada and Germany, and have performed at prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden and even the White House.Howard Shore is among today's most respected, honored, and active composers and music conductors. His work with Peter Jackson on The Lord of the Rings trilogy stands as his most towering achievement to date, earning him three Academy Awards®. He has also been awarded four Grammys® and three Golden Globes. Previously, Shore served as the music director of Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980. Additionally he has scored numerous film projects for David Cronenberg, including The Fly, Dead Ringers, Crash, Naked Lunch and Eastern Promises, as well as Martin Scorsese's The Departed, The Aviator, Gangs of New York, Ed Wood, The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, and Mrs. Doubtfire. Shore's music has been performed in concerts throughout the world. In 2003, Shore conducted the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in the world premiere of The Lord of the Rings Symphony in Wellington, New Zealand. Since then, the work has had over 140 performances by the world's most prestigious orchestras.
