Based on user demand, BWW is taking our commitment to arts education one step further with the launch of the BWW Student Center - High School Edition. This directory features upcoming show listings for more than 1500 high schools nationwide with more being added each week. Schools can register for 'enhanced' listings on the site - adding in photos, cast lists, videos, links and more. Productions that take advantage of this will receive highlights on our listing pages, extra editorial mentions and potential spotlight features.

And just like we do with our College Center, each week BWW will be selecting a high-school program and featuring it as our 'School in the Spotlight: High-School Edition'.

Today, BWW visits Waterbury, Connecticut, where Holy Cross High School is this week's recipient of the High School in the Spolight! With a thriving arts program consisting of courses in Music, Visual Arts, and Theatre, the curriculum at Holy Cross offers something for all skills and interest levels - from students who seek an introduction to the arts, to those who wish to hone their skills in preparation for post-secondary training and a professional career. Under the direction of Paul Whealon, the theatre department offer students classes and pratical experience in direction, stage crew, technical crew, costume design and choreography.

Students at Holy Cross put on two major productions per year. Recent offerings include 'Evita', 'Richard III', and 'Happily Ever Once Upon'. (Check out photos of past productions here!) The department will next present 'Bye Bye Birdie' from April 27 to 29 in the Student Theatre. For tickets and more information, please call 203-757-9248.

The school's arts program also offers courses in Music with many opportunities for students to participate in bands and choirs. The school's music ensembles, consisting of Jazz groups, Handbell Choir, String Ensemble, and classical groups to name but a few, have gone on to perform in community events as well as compete in music festivals.
