On Thursday, July 9th Heather Mac Rae (Hair, A Catered Affair, Falsettos) will star in a reading of a new, full-length musical, BOLLYWOOD AND VINE by Edward Jordan, June Rachelson-Ospa and Daniel Neiden, based on Edward Jordon's film of the same title at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row.

Jordon shares his inspiration, "In the show, the mom of a gay young man helps him find his true love through some pretty outrageous means. Along the way, she finds her own true love. The central character of Delilah Leigh is my own invention, but she's real to me. She is my mother. When I lived my own real-life coming out to her, I could not have scripted it any sweeter in terms of her embrace of my emotions, my journey, and me."

Accompanying MAC Award Winner, Mac Rae on stage will be Felicia Blum (The Lesbian Love Octagon), DJ Bucciarelli (National Tour: Jesus Christ Super Star), Christina Farruggia (Broadway: Les Miserables), Rick Roemer (Regional: Man of La Mancha), Marian Steiner (War of the Roses), Levin Valayil (Regional: Hairspray), and Brian Walters (Film: Birthday).

The Telling Company, an award winning, not-for-profit production company committed to art that speaks to real life and socially conscious issues, is producing this reading and it couldn't come at a better time explains Executive Director, Gayle Waxenberg, "Bringing this to the stage on the coattails of the recent Supreme Court legislation legalizing gay marriage throughout our country couldn't be more relevant. I praise Edward for writing it and turning it into such a joyous musical."

"Transitioning from film to stage is so liberating," said Jordon. Plucking these characters out of the movie and letting them loose on stage elevates passion and allows them to burst into song, enabling me to discover exactly where the original screenplay 'sang'.

Performances will be at 2PM and 6PM. Reservations are required: RSVP@TheTellingCompany.org.
