HIDDEN by Motionhouse to Make London Debut at Sadler's Wells East

Dance-circus company Motionhouse presents the London premiere of its latest multimedia production Hidden at Sadler's Wells East this October. The production further develops Motionhouse's distinctive and visceral dance-circus language, blending contemporary dance with circus feats, acrobatics and physical theatre. Hidden premiered at Warwick Arts Centre in February 2025 and will tour regionally into 2027. Performances will run Tuesday 27 October – Saturday 31 October 2026.

At the cutting edge of live performance and digital integration, Hidden is a powerful blend of artforms. Gravity-defying choreography, an emotive soundscape and a shape-shifting set combine with groundbreaking projections to explore how light can come out of darkness in times of crisis.

Kevin Finnan, Artistic Director at Motionhouse, said, “Hidden is a deeply personal production for me and I'm looking forward to sharing it with audiences at Sadler's Wells East. We have embraced the relationship between dance, digital and circus in a new way for this production, developing our movement language and exploring new innovations in our use of digital technology. I hope it is a really beautiful show for audiences, and that it will bring people together to share moments of human connection - one of the key themes of Hidden."

Since 1988, Motionhouse has created world class dance-circus productions that tour across the globe, integrating athletic physicality, powerful narrative, incredible digital imagery and emotive sound scores. The last time Motionhouse performed with Sadler's Wells was with major hit Nobody in 2021 at the Peacock Theatre. Other productions by Motionhouse include award-winning outdoor shows WILD and BLOCK, which have toured to festivals in London including Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF), as well as theatre works for families - Starchitects, a magical intergalactic adventure, and HENGE, a celebration of ancestry.

Motionhouse take their inspiration from the connection between humans and the world in which they live, with works exploring flooding, fear and captivity, and the human relationship with water, the Earth and energy. They perform in traditional theatres but also have a range of flexible productions designed to tour festivals and non-theatrical spaces, bringing their unique dance-circus to a wider range of audiences and inspiring those unfamiliar with dance.
