According to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' website, the 18th Annual Gypsy of the Year Competition will take place on December 4th and 5th.

The Gypsy of the Year Competition "features New York's most talented 'gypsies' (chorus members from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows) in a competitive variety show," state BC/EFA notes on the show.  "The event is the culmination of six weeks of fund-raising when shows on and Off-Broadway engage in a friendly competition to see which show can raise the most money for BC/EFA. Awards are presented to the shows raising the most money and to the winning presentation."

Last year's Best Skit was The Lion King, while Monty Python's Spamalot raised the most money last year.

BC/EFA is "the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant making organization. BC/EFA is the on-going, committed response from the American Theatre community to an urgent worldwide health crisis. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of this community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States. Since its founding in 1988, BC/EFA has raised over $100 million for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses."

A venue for the event has not yet been announced.
