Gunhild Carling to Perform at Sellersville Theater
The multi-instrumentalist vocalist and tap dancer brings her jazz vaudeville show to Sellersville.
Internationally acclaimed musician and entertainer Gunhild Carling will perform at Sellersville Theater on September 10 at 8 p.m.
Known as the "Swedish Queen of Swing," Carling has built a global reputation as a jazz musician, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist whose performances blend virtuosic musicianship with elements of vaudeville, comedy and dance. During a typical performance, she may play multiple instruments, sing and tap dance, sometimes simultaneously.
Born into Sweden's renowned Carling Family musical dynasty, Carling began performing at a young age and has gone on to become one of the most recognizable jazz artists of her generation. She is proficient on a wide range of instruments, including trombone, trumpet, recorder, ukulele, piano, harmonica and bagpipes.
Carling's career has taken her to major concert halls, jazz clubs and festivals around the world. Her appearances with Postmodern Jukebox introduced her to a wider international audience, while residencies at New York City's Birdland further established her standing in the jazz community.
She has also toured with the Count Basie Orchestra under the direction of Scotty Barnhart and performed at leading jazz festivals throughout the United States and internationally. Her performances have ranged from intimate club engagements to large-scale concert appearances, including venues such as Carnegie Hall and festivals in New Orleans.
