TACT/The Actors Company Theatre presents Three Men on a Horse, by John Cecil Holm & George Abbott, the final production of the company's 2010/11 season. Directed by TACT Co-Artistic Director Scott Alan Evans, performances began at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Monday, March 14th, 2011.

The cast of Three Men on A Horse includes TACT Company Members Jeffrey C. Hawkins (The Memorandum, Incident at Vichy), Ron McClary (Incident at Vichy, Home), James Murtaugh (The Late Christopher Bean; Ah, Wilderness-Lincoln Center), Gregory Salata (Bent, Incident at Vichy), and Scott Schafer (Eccentricities of a Nightingale, Bedroom Farce).

In Three Men on a Horse, hen-pecked greeting-card writer, Erwin Trowbridge, has an uncanny ability for predicting the winners of horse races. For Erwin it's just a hobby, but when his extraordinary talent is discovered by a down-and-out pack of gamblers, Erwin suddenly finds himself very far from his safe suburban home in Ozone Heights. This dizzy and delightful Depression-era comedy by one of theatre's most accomplished showmen will bring a much needed lift to your Recession -wearied spirits.

The cast of THREE MEN ON A HORSE took some time to speak with Broadwayworld. The questions will run one each day everyday for the remainder of the week.

Day one question one: Have you ever gambled on horse racing?

JEFFREY C. HAWKINS (Charlie)

Actually, I recently did. I was at Dover Downs with my girlfriend. I was up on the night and feeling good. On the way out the door I caught the racing room, so I had to turn around and throw some at the horses. Big bucks, you know, $10. I spread it around a bit, so I won some and lost some. I was trying to avoid being too cute about it because there were plenty of guys there that looked like their mortgage was on the line.

Geoffrey Molloy (Erwin)

Fortunately, horse racing season doesn't start for a few weeks so I was able to avoid that "research". I'm sure I would have lost my shirt!

Julianna Zinkel (Mabel)

I've never gambled on horse racing though going to the races was a big deal in my family, just one generation back! My aunt and mother get a special kind of glimmer in their eye when talking about horse races. Their aunt & uncle, similar to Mabel & Patsy, were very much 'in circulation', and would take them to the track to bet for birthdays and special occasions. I believe my mother's intricate betting system was determined by color choice.

Gregory Salata (Patsy)

Once! When in my 20's, a good friend who was a frequent horse player convinced me and another friend to join him at Aqueduct raceway on a spring afternoon. We would simply pool our money ($21) he told us, and bet a Show parlay. So easy! The horse would only have to finish 3rd and we would win and then parlay our money with each following race of the day. We would end up with hundreds of dollars. Well, in the first exciting race our horse finished 4th by a nose. No money! Short afternoon! And no future doping the horses!

Don Burroughs (Frankie)

No, but I've lost my shirt in Vegas.....and my pants.....and my shoes.....and my dignity.....
