Genetipetz, a kid-designed mixed-up stuffed animal company, celebrated their one year anniversary from when they were funded by the popular crowd-funding site Kickstarter. Since receiving the funding, they have developed three super-soft, huggable stuffed animal toys designed for elementary-aged children and have three new designs, inspired by a design contest, that are in development for production.

The stuffed animal company was funded in just over a month last year with 119 backers and $21,727 pledged by the backers. The company delivered the first production of the stuffed animal toys in February of this year. Currently the company offers a Mooraffe, the combination of DNA from a cow and a giraffe; a Snurtlegator, the combination of DNA from a snake, a turtle, and an alligator; and a Zebugraphant, the combination of DNA from an elephant, a lady bug, and a zebra. The Piguino, Hawx, Quackalingo, Skoink, and Leopoctocrab will soon be hitting Genetipetz's online shelves. Facebook fans can also be among the first to hear about and enter the next Design Contest slated to kick off in January 2014.

The stuffed animals feature near field communications (NFC) chips to take the play experience anywhere through smart phone and tablet games. Within the past year, the company has worked hard to develop interactive, HTML5 games that children can play with their stuffed animals. Each toy includes free access to the online Genetipetz Clubhouse, a portal where children can play games online, learn about basic genetic science, and interact with all of the Genetipetz characters.

"It has been an exciting year for the company," said Chris Meade, CEO of Genetipetz. "We not only are working on developing new stuffed animals, but you will see new sizes of stuffed animals so children can easily take them along on trips and car rides. We are also currently discussing new game ideas, including educational games to teach children about science and genetics: the driving principle behind our fun and unique animals."

Genetipetz will be exhibiting at the 111th Annual Toy Industry Association (TIA) Show next February 2014 in New York City to present their unique creators to leading distributors of children's toys. The company will be located at booth 3037.
