At 9:00 PM on September 29th, NYMF Presents: Two Original Sets by Two Broadway Babes - Gavin Creel and Alice Ripley in concert at Upstairs at Studio 54. To purchase tickets, click here or call 212.352.3101.

Gavin Creel performs Upstairs at Studio 54 with a fresh new blend of original music. This Tony Nominated actor takes a break from rehearsals of Broadway's La Cage Aux Folles, to share his new sound in an intimate acoustic setting for one night only. Don't miss Gavin, Co-Writer Robbie Roth on acoustic guitar, and Clancy on percussion, as they open for the the incomparable Alice Ripley.

RIPLEY is a NYC based self-produced powerpop band with a sound that downtown audiences have dubbed "crunchy slut pop from another planet".

The band's sound features layers of soaring vocals/crunchy guitars, big fat drums and bass, and spastic keyboards. Their influences - XTC, Elvis Costello, QUEEN, The Beatles - include rock's classic eccentrics, but RIPLEY's sound has a decidedly 21st century ring.

Lead singer/guitarist Alice Ripley (who is the main songwriter in the band) released a critically acclaimed solo CD in 2001, "Everything's Fine" (Sh-K-Boom Records). With her new band, Ripley's noted lyrical and melodic senses have been sharpened and the music rocks much harder. Alice's considerable fan base extends beyond the music world - most recently, anyone with $65 could see her take her top off eight times a week in a midtown Manhattan theater.

Drummer Shannon Ford has performed and recorded with a starry list of artists - including Paul Simon, Danny Gatton and Bob Dylan - resulting in an extraordinarily rock solid rhythm section.

Christopher Schelling is a new wave throwback whose keyboard styles range from "car alarm" to the ever-popular "Chopsticks." RIPLEY is the only band who would ever have him.
