First Amendment Sanctuary Spaces to Commemorate Bill of Rights Ratification At New York Live Arts

First Amendment Sanctuary Spaces (FASS) will hold a press conference at New York Live Arts on Wednesday, November 28 to commemorate the 227th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights. FASS is a consortium of 35 performing arts spaces and places of worship bonded by their commitment to embrace, protect and their advocacy of the First Amendment.

At a critical moment when freedom of expression and freedom of the press are threatened, we stand united to voice our opposition to regulations, actions and rhetoric that undermines our fundamental rights. Actions such as revoking CNN's reporter Jim Acosta's access to the White House, and recent regulations allowing ICE to prevent in-person access to lawyers for detained undocumented individuals via new video lawyering policies have moved FASS to publicly acknowledge the 227th anniversary of the ratification of United States of America's BILL OF RIGHTS!

The press conference will be held Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 am at New York Live Arts located at 219 West 19th Street.

About First Amendment Sanctuary Spaces:
First Amendment Sanctuary Spaces is an initiative that aims to create a network of performance and cultural spaces, as well as places of worship, that pledge to uphold the foundational elements of the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment at a time when enforcement of these fundamental constitutional guarantees is not assured.
