Flashdance The Musical, which began performances in the West End at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 25 September 2010, will now complete its run on 15 January 2011.

"The West End production of Flashdance at the Shaftesbury Theatre will close on 15th January 2011. The producers would like to thank all those involved for their phenomenal hard work on the show," said the producers.

Written by Tom Hedley and Robert Cary, with music by Robbie Roth, lyrics by Robert Cary and Robbie Roth, Flashdance The Musical is directed at the Shaftesbury Theatre by Nikolai Foster with choreography by Arlene Phillips and orchestrations and musical supervision by Phil Edwards. Flashdance The Musical, is based on the Paramount Pictures film: screenplay by Tom Hedley and Joe Eszterhas, story by Tom Hedley.

Set in Pittsburgh, USA, Flashdance The Musical tells the story of 18-year old Alex, a welder by day and ‘flashdancer' by night, whose dream is to obtain a place at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy. This musical about holding on to your dreams and love against all the odds features an iconic score including Maniac, Manhunt, Gloria, I Love Rock and Roll and the Academy award-winning title track Flashdance -What a Feeling.
