Epic Theatre Presents 'A Hard Heart' by Howard Baker
Epic Theatre Ensemble has announced the complete cast for the New York premiere of A Hard Heart, written by Howard Barker and directed by Will Pomerantz. The provocative and timely A Hard Heart is the first play in Epic's seventh Off Broadway season. Joining the previously announced Kathleen Chalfant in the lead role of 'Riddler' will be Melissa Friedman as 'Praxis,' Dion Graham as 'Plevna,' Alex Organ as the 'Sentry,' Thom Sesma as 'Seemore,' James Wallert as 'Atilla' and Sarah Winkler as the 'Woman.'
Performances begin on October 30, 2007 at the Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street) and run through December 2, 2007. Opening night is November 11, 2007 at 6PM.
"Written long before 9/11, the Patriot Act, the new Pope and the current immigration debate, A Hard Heart is a prescient and electrifying play exploring the ways we protect our political and human borders. Barker's prophetic drama imagines a country facing invasion. 'Praxis' the Queen (Friedman) enlists the Genius 'Riddler' (Chalfant) to devise a strategy to protect their threatened culture, but is the sacrifice too much? Epic Theatre Ensemble is proud to finally bring this chilling tale to our own city under siege," explain press notes.
Scenic Design is by Narelle Sissons, Costume Design is by Chris Rumery, Lighting Design is by Lenore Doxsee and Sound Design is by Mark Huang.
