INTAR Theatre, dedicated to developing and producing Latino playwrights in English, has announced a benefit performance to celebrate its 40th Anniversary Season. For one performance only, Ed Harris and Amy Madigan will star in Afternoon Tea, a new musical written for them. The benefit will take place at the Kirk Theater (410 W. 42nd St.) on Theatre Row on Sunday, December 11th at 7:00pm.

"A two-character musical about the power of reconciliation, Afternoon Tea tells a story of the later years of the author J.M. Barrie's life. After twenty years of being apart, Barrie's wife comes back to reconcile their marriage...but he is still lost in the world of fantasy, youth, and Peter Pan," state press notes. The show is written by playwright and INTAR artistic director Eduardo Machado and features music by Walter Kennon.

Harris, who has received Academy Award nominations for The Hours, Pollock, The Truman Show and Apollo 13, recently made his European stage debut in the play Wrecks at the Everyman Palace Theater in Cork, Ireland. He has been seen on Broadway in Taking Sides and Precious Sons (for which he received a Tony nomination). Madigan's credits include such films as Field of Dreams, Twice in a Lifetime (for which she received an Academy Award nomination), and the HBO series "Carnivale." Machado wrote the play Stevie Wants to Play the Blues for Madigan, which was performed at the Los Angeles Theatre Center in 1990, and she made her Broadway debut as Stella in the 1992 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. Both Harris and Madigan are board members of INTAR Theatre.

INTAR's 40th Anniversary Benefit is co-chaired by actress Lucie Arnaz, producer Annette Tapert, and INTAR board members Antonio Del Pino and Jorge Moya. Preceding the performance of Afternoon Tea, actress Josie de Guzman (Broadway: Guys and Dolls, West Side Story) will sing selections from the musical Peter Pan in Spanish. As part of the evening, a dinner will immediately follow the performance at the restaurant Le Madeleine.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:00pm, followed by the 7:00pm performance. Dinner immediately follows at Le Madeleine (403 West 43rd Street). All tickets are $500. For more information, call Katie Kowaloff at 212-581-2646.
