BWW catches up with the team behind Ogg 'n' Ugg 'n' Dogg to chat about bringing the show to the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Tell us a bit about Ogg 'n' Ugg 'n' Dogg.

Well, in a nutshell, Ogg 'n' Ugg 'n' Dogg is the mind-boggling comic tale of how a long time ago, two young Yorkshire hunter-gatherers saved us all from a life of doglessness by palling up with the wolves and inventing the world's first dog. There are a lot of other things in the play - flying meat bones, time-travelling sticks, sabre-toothed tigers, rapper wolves but you will see that for yourselves when you come.

Which forms of theatre are used to tell the story?

We use physical theatre, storytelling, clowning, music & song, puppetry, and even a touch of stand-up comedy. In Ogg 'n' Ugg 'n' Dogg something new and exciting is happening all the time which keeps the children engaged and the whole audience on its toes.

How involved do the audience get?

The children and the adults get involved a lot but in a fun, non-embarrassing way, and only if they want to. We find everyone gets get drawn into the story and wants to help our two hapless heroes, Ogg and Ugg invent themselves a best friend.

What's in it for the adults?

Well, judging from the previews we've had: first, the pleasure of watching their children really enjoying watching a piece of live theatre; and second, realising the play is just as much for them as their children. Ogg 'n' Ugg 'n' Dogg Is based on the amazing true story of how over thousands of years though selection and domestication, the wolf evolved Into our best friend, the dog. It's a great universal story which will fascinate and interest everyone no matter what how old they are.

How do you plan to bring the dogs of Edinburgh together?

Well, hunter-gatherers Ogg 'n Ugg are staying in a flat in Marchmont during the Fringe, and every morning will be taking Dogg for a walk through the Meadows to work at the Gilded Balloon Teviot. This will involve meeting and chatting to other dog walkers all eager to see and pat the world's first dog -and we are confident that word will soon spread amongst the canine community and soon all the dogs in Edinburgh will be gathering there to meet them.
