EDINBURGH 2018: BWW Q&A - Athena Kugblenu

BWW catches up with Athena Kugblenu to chat about bringing Follow The Leader to the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Tell us a bit about Follow The Leader

It's a show about how leaders are human. Considering how stupid humans can be perhaps we expect too much of them. I talk a lot about my own personal mishaps to make this point.

Having done the Fringe before do you think you know what to expect?

Yes, I think so! Certainly looking forward to not ever knowing what day it is and the anxiety of daily checks to see how many tickets I have or haven't sold.

Where might we have seen/heard you before?

I've been on RT (it's a news channel...), The Dog Ate My Homework, I've been heard on Talk Radio, Radio 5 Live and one of those Channel 5 clip shows amongst other things. I'm also in a YouTube series called Age of Limbo. You should check it out!

Are there any other shows you're hoping to see at the festival?

Yes - Joe Sutherland, Bilal Zafar, Russ Peers, Lolly Adefope, and Dalia Malek has a show I think! Whatever she is doing I will catch it!

Who would you recommend comes to see Follow The Leader?

Smart people and people who want to be smarter. If you're the kind of person who laughs when someone falls over you'll enjoy my show too. I do a lot of figurative falling.

See Athena Kugblenu: Follow The Leader at the Underbelly throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 1-26 August. For tickets visit www.edfringe.com
