Tell us a bit about The Lunchtime Special.

The Lunchtime Special is now in its fifth year, and has become one of the hottest selling showcases on the Fringe. Each show features five of the best up-and-coming comedians, chosen from hundreds of applications, and by our talent-spotting agents. It's a fantastic way to start your festival day, kicking off at 12.30pm at The Tron, Hunter Square.

What acts are featured?

This year we have an extraordinarily strong line-up including Sindhu Vee ("Excellent" Broadway Baby, "Priceless" Chortle), Helen Bauer (BBC Three, BBC Four Extra), Leroy Brito (star of BBC Wales), Susan Riddell (BBC's Fast & Funny), Tom Taylor ("...an absolute delight" - The Skinny), and Steff Todd ("Clever, sharp" - Stagefright Comedy) - it's going to be a cracking run.

What sets it apart from other showcases at the festival?

The producers and agents of CKP take booking this line-up very seriously, as we often go on to sign one or more of the acts. In the past this has included, Darren Harriott, Ken Cheng, Andy Field, Eshaan Akbar, and Tom Ward. The comics rotate their positions in the line-up each day, meaning they all get a chance to MC, open, middle and close. This keeps the show fresh and exciting, for both the audience, and the comedians.

Timings and ticket information for The Lunchtime Special are available on the edfringe website.

With this being the fifth year of The Lunchtime Special do you think you know what to expect from the Fringe?

While we're familiar with the regular highs and lows of the festival, such as the first show exhilaration, the mid-Fringe nadir, and the late-night party casualties - each Fringe has its own unique themes and vibe, so we're always excited to see what each year will bring.

Who would you recommend comes to see The Lunchtime Special?

The Lunchtime Special is an inclusive comedy show for anyone who likes to laugh (and even those who don't). The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming, and with five different acts ready to entertain you, there's always something for everyone.
