EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Tales From A Tampon
Tell us a bit about Tales From A Tampon.
With tax on tampons being abolished, there's never been a better time to celebrate this little cotton bud. The show takes you from sex education to menopause revealing many fascinating tampon facts along the way. Including skits on Ann Summers, Naturists, the power of Period Blood and how coping with hormones is called setting Barbara free, Sarah Morgan-Paul will take you on a journey you've never been on before!
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
I'm 50 this year and I had a choice, go on a caribbean cruise, buy a new car or come to Edinburgh and dress as a 5ft 4 Tampon. I choose the Tampon which either reveals my belief in the show or is no greater example of menopause madness that you'll ever get.
Also, Edinburgh is the greatest event on earth for shows around the globe and for showcasing talent that may never get a look in otherwise. It encourages artists to be brave, and explore topics and issues that are sometimes uncomfortable. That's why I can't think of a better place to bring a show about a Tampon!
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
In 70 years of the Fringe there has never been a show from a Tampon, about a Tampon and by a Tampon.
It still amazes me something that every woman uses daily has never been discussed or celebrated. This show is not only a first of it's kind but will have you laughing from start to finish. Plus when else will you see a 5ft 4 Tampon running past you down the Royal Mile!
What are the benefits of performing at the Free Fringe?
Easy, without the free fringe I couldn't perform. As an average girl from Yorkshire who works Telesales 4 days a week to finance myself, it's taken all my savings, 3 good telesales orders and the free fringe to get me to Edinburgh. Thankfully I didn't have to sell my soul or body along the way. To be honest not many takers at 50!
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
In an ideal world some millionaire producer who will see the show, whisk me off to New York, make me famous and turn Tales from a Tampon into the greatest comedy musical ever seen. Realistically, anyone who enjoys a laugh!
