Tell us a bit about Stuart Laws Stops.

This is my fifth show and it's about when you realise you have to stop doing something and how you deal with that. For example, there's a recurring story I tell about the time I had an argument with a jellyfish and how that had to come to an end eventually. I also humblebrag that I went on holiday recently.

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

I didn't really want to, I spent all my money on a holiday because I wasn't going to do Edinburgh this year. Then a great producer (Ben Williams at Plosive Productions) asked me about doing a new show, then Ryan Taylor (Head of Comedy at Pleasance) offered me a really good slot and I had a week to work out if I had a show idea that was worth doing. The conclusion was: yeah, it's worth doing, if only to say goodbye to comedy.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

I'm doing it, I'm not doing any other shows. There's an argument with a jellyfish in it. I wear a gilet. It's at 7pm in the Pleasance Attic. There's no way to sell this show as being a truly unique beast, I think the likelihood is that if there was a truly unique show at the Fringe that it'd be a shitshow, just terrible and unwatchable. What the best shows are are familiar, have observations and big laughs and are easy to watch.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

Anyone with a pass that gives them free access, that seems like a no-brainer. Anyone who is unable to get a ticket to one of the shows that clashes with me: Sara Pascoe, Richard Herring & Phil Wang just three people that I'm hoping to scoop up the overspill of. Also: Christopher Nolan, Will Arnett, Dawn French, Harry Kane, Sally Wainwright, Denis Villeneuve, Amy Adams, Bob Mortimer, Harry Hill, Mauricio Pochettino, Charlie Kaufman, Spike Jonze, Johnny Knoxville, Rob McElhenney, Cordelia Fine, Mitch Hurwitz, Anna Kendrick.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch in Edinburgh?
Atomic Blonde, The Hitman's Bodyguard, The Dark Tower, Bastards, Valerian, The Wall at the Fringe venue: cinema
