Tell us a bit about Strangers: A Magic Play.

Strangers: A Magic Play is the second show we've done in which four separate stories are interwoven with magic to create an audience experience like no other. A homeless person given a magical gift by a mysterious stranger. A gambling addict battling with her addiction. A political preacher giving their first sermon. A shopping channel presenter struggling to care about their job. Together, these scenes challenge what we think and how we think about magic and performance.

After a sell out run last year, is there more pressure?

Having had a surprisingly successful first year we've had to make sure that we don't get complacent. We've been workshopping the current show since December 2016 and have been working hard with our cast and crew to make sure that we can create a show that is as good, if not better than our efforts last year.

And you're doing a month long run this year?

Yes, we're very excited to be able to go up for the whole of the festival this year. We'll be performing at theSpace @ Surgeons Hall from 20:00 4th-12th, 12:00 14th-19th, and 13:05 21st-26th of August. We'll also be flyering and performing magic on the mile everyday so come and find us and say hello!

Who would you recommend comes to see A Magic Play?

The show is a brand new style of performance, so if anyone is looking for something a little different, which is well crafted and thoroughly entertaining, then this'll be the show for you. Also, the show is designed so that if you don't like magic, you'll still enjoy the monologues and if you don't like theatre you'll still enjoy the magic. This is a show that really does have something for everybody.

Are there any other performers you're hoping to catch at the festival?

Definitely! If you want any more amazing magic then check out Craig Impossible, we saw his show last year and it was one of the highlights of the fringe for us. The Nottingham New Theatre, our spiritual home, is also taking up two shows, Escape for Dummies (about living department store mannequins with dreams of freedom) and Wrecked (a political satire set on an island of pirates), which are sure to be entertaining too. Lastly, one of my all-time favourite shows is being brought back for Edinburgh this year, so make sure you check out Translunar Paradise by Theatre Ad Infinitum. I've seen it twice before and I'll definitely be catching it a third if not fourth time this August.

Timings and ticket information for Strangers: A Magic Play can be found on the edfringe website.
