EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Patrick Turpin
Tell us a bit about Itty Bitty Little Titty Piece.
Itty Bitty Little Titty Piece is an hour of irreverent jokes, dancing about, high heels, dittying a few ditties, stupid party pieces, hot/raw showbusiness, and mourning.
SERIOUS ANSWER - it's about how some of my family members died in January... And my reluctant feeling of necessity to mention in onstage.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
Because you can do genuinely different stuff without an audience staring a gift-horse in the dick (In this metaphor I am the gift horse, and 'the dick' is my dick... let that sink in, a gift-horse with a human gift-dick).
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
In flavour and tone, the show exists in a universe of its very own. It smells different. It sounds different. And tastes different. It's basically a piece of performance art hidden inside a stand-up comedy show.
I did a Performance Studies degree and so everything I do is just a conceited attempt to crowbar physical theatre into my comedy.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
If the show title raises a smile, then that's a measure of the level of humour involved. I mean - to be perfectly honest - the show is an hour of a young-looking sod carrying his sorry-lil-ass to the end of the earth on a wave of silliness. If you want to 'support' 'that' then I will flood you with the gifts of my art.
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?
I'm excited to see Christopher Bliss, Giants, Annie McGrath, Phil Wang, Goodbear and Ben Target.
