EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Misterman Image

Tell us a bit about Misterman.

Misterman is a play written for one actor by Irish playwright Enda Walsh. As the story unfolds it becomes clear that we are watching a man recreate a day in his life - or days - from a bunker or hideout and that something has gone terribly wrong. He creates his world from a number of recordings played back on reel- to-reel tape machines, shabby props, a battered notebook and a zeal that is both compelling and disturbing. Over 70 minutes it build to an explosive climax that leave audiences shaken. Not for the faint hearted!

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

Siren Theatre Co is from Sydney, Australia. Our arts world is pretty insular and there's an isolation which is both great for the kind of work we make but there's also a hunger to see how we compare to the rest of the world, what are other members of the tribe making, how are they making it and why?

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

Thomas Campbell's powerhouse performance is not to be missed. He's charming, innocent, devilish, dark and has an amazing ability to tell a wild story. It feels as if the stage if full of people - that's Tom's ability to create an entire town. Don't miss it!

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

Audiences who love dark drama will eat this up.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

I'm looking forward to seeing Hanna Gadsby's NANETTE. Both Tom and I are from Tasmania and so is Hannah (we don't know her). Everyone is raving about this show and its hasn't played Sydney yet - so why not catch it in Edinburgh!

Timings and ticket information for Misterman are available on the edfringe website.
