EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Michael Redmond ImageTell us a bit about your show.

My show is entitled " I Wrote a Joke in 1987 " and it tells the story of when I left Dublin that year to go to London to try my luck on the London comedy circuit...with just one joke, and how I fared with it. Yes really!. I only had one joke in my pocket. However, since that was over 30 years ago, I have managed to write some more in the meantime.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
I am bringing the show to Edinburgh for a number of reasons. It is my tenth time performing a show at the Fringe and, by and large, I have really enjoyed it each time. Secondly, the Fringe in Edinburgh is a fantastic opportunity to bring your show to a wide and varied audience and as such it is a great showcase. Thirdly, I'm performing my show at the Gilded Balloon, run by the estimable and wonderful Karen Koren who has always been incredibly supportive to acts and who first lured ( if I can use that word?) me to the the Fringe in 1989.
What sets it apart from other shows at the festival?
It's hard to say exactly what sets my show apart form others but I can be sure of some things that do. It is the only show being performed by an Irishman in his sixties with a very large moustache and a dodgy right knee cap. That is, unless Joe Pasquale has the same idea.
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch this year?
I can recommend a few other shows:
Chris Forbes Unquiet Mind
Ray Bradshaw Deaf Comedy Fam
John Shuttleworth Last Will and Tasty Mint
Each one is at the Gilded Balloon.
As the Fringe progresses I look out for recommendations to see other shows, and no doubt there will be many.
