EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Emotional Terrorism

Tell us a bit about Emotional Terrorism.
Emotional Terrorism is a one woman show which I wrote as an attempt to understand my demons and the voices in my head through a humorous lens. I explore some elements of my childhood including my parents' irrational fear of HIV, being sexualized at a young age by ballet teachers and the modeling world, developing an eating disorder while working as a teenage model, contracting an STD from my first boyfriend, my absurd experiences studying acting in LA with an abusive, ego maniacal teacher and my descent into alcoholism and the demoralization that came along with it. It's a dark comedy.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
I love performing stand up in the UK so I figured it would be a wonderful opportunity to perform there consistently for a month and to get to know more people in the UK theatre and comedy communities.
You have premiered the show at the Hollywood Fringe in LA. How has the show been received so far?
It's been received incredibly well. Audiences have had very emotional reactions to it and have found it to be much more profound than I had ever intended it to be.
This is your debut at the Edinburgh Fringe- do you think you know what to expect from the festival?
No. I have no idea what to expect, but that's what makes it exciting.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
Everyone. Except very aggressive misogynists who might find it unnerving to see me parodying males during sex acts. I take that back. They should come too.
