Who would you recommend comes to see you?
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?
It's Better to Lie than to Tell the Truth and End up Alone in a Ditch Crying, is a one-woman comedy show about how I went from being a successful indie rock star to being an unemployable single sad sack. To deal with the inevitable come down I lied. A lot.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
The fringe has an amazing atmosphere of connection and encouragement and seems like the ideal place to be brave with your comedy and your work. Connecting with an audience in an honest way is one of the most important parts of performing for me, and the joy of Edinburgh means every day and every performance will be different.
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
It's a painfully funny and painfully honest show, which explores themes of people pleasing and British stiff upper lip ness, and the show is very different from traditional stand-up. It has live re-enactments of situations from that time where I lied the most, i.e first dates, job interviews and brunch dates with more successful friends. And also there is time travel.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
Anyone who has ever had an awkward job interview, lied about how rubbish stuff is in order to impress people, people pleased, been on a bad date or just plain out embarrassed themselves in order to fit in. So most people.
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?
Well I'm part of To The Moon's Laugh or Cry ensemble of 5 female comedians at the Fringe this year - so I'll be seeing all of the other womens' shows! And also Jessica Fostekew 'The Silence of the Nans,' Joseph Morpurgo 'Hammerhead,' and John-Luke Roberts: Look on My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair!
