EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation
Tell us a bit about CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation.
CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation is a surreal crime comedy that's different every show. The audience provide us with a murder victim - fictitious victims only, please! - and it's up to us to work out who dunnit. We improvise a comedy play set during the aftermath of the murder. Then the audience team up with our detective to grill the suspects and identify the killer.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
We love Edinburgh audiences! Last year they gave us some fabulous victims and some crazy murder weapons. We can't wait to see what brilliant gifts they give us to play with this year.
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
Every single show is unique. We don't know who our victim will be, we don't know which characters we'll play and we don't know what's going to happen next! This makes for a hilarious show which has never been made before and will never be seen again.
Is it ever possible to prepare for an improvised show?
Depends what you mean by prepare! We honestly don't know what's going to happen on stage until the words come out of our mouths. But we do workshop regularly to hone the skills needed to do the show. It's a bit like football. Footballers don't know what's going to happen in the big match, but they do spend all week working on certain things so that they make the best decisions on the pitch.
We constantly work on all the skills needed for improvisation so that when the curtain rises, we are primed and ready to go!
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
Anyone who wants their cheeks to hurt from laughing! If you love the excitement of live theatre, you've got a surreal sense of humour, and you enjoy the frisson of knowing that literally anything could happen, CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation is for you!
