Tell us a bit about Buried: A New Musical.
He's a seemingly-average young professional. She's a sarcastic thrill-seeker. After matching on an online dating service, this young and fun-loving couple form a unique relationship when they discover they share something in common: they're both serial killers. "Buried: A New Musical" is a dark comedy that tells the story of these two exceptional characters as they join forces, setting out on a trail of deception and murder whilst simultaneously attempting to navigate their way through the world of normal, adult relationships.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
Though we really enjoy performing in our home town of Sheffield, we think Buried will be best suited to an Edinburgh audience: both the dark comedy throughout the show and the intimacy of musical with a cast of six fit perfectly with the vibe of the festival. Also, as a company filled with fans of music, comedy and theatre, we are so excited to go to the Fringe!
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
Buried offers an unusual, more sinister spin on the traditional rom-com formula, whilst managing to be a fantastic piece of comedic theatre in its own right. The musical's hilarious script will leave the audience contemplating whether anyone born without a sense morality can be labelled as truly evil.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
We really believe that Buried offers something for everyone. The beautiful, folk-inspired score is an original take on the usual sound we expect from musical theatre and so, it can be appreciated by both fans of the genre and those who shudder at the idea of anything "musical"! If you're are a fan of dark comedy, musical theatre or anything a little bit twisted, Buried will be the show for you.
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the Festival?
We have several other friends from Sheffield at the Fringe who we are excited to see. They are Dear Hunter Theatre with "The Iconoclasts" and Threshold Theatre Company with "The Growing Pains of the Mantle Family Living Room" - both are very different, fantastic shows!
