EDINBURGH 2017: BWW Q&A- Andy Field Image

Tell us a bit about The Andy Field Experience.

The Andy Field Experience is all of the funniest bits of stand up comedy I've managed to come up with in my life so far condensed into an hour with the assistance of a powerpoint presentation

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

The Edinburgh during the Fringe is one of my favourite places whether I'm performing or not but to be at the fringe putting on a show that is entirely of my own devising to comedy loving crowds every day for a month is essentially the dream. This show in particular is the culmination of a lot of work and I'm very proud to bring it to my favourite place.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
This is the only show that's written and performed by me. I'm not claiming that's a positive or a negative but it is the main distinction. I like to write jokes with the express intention of making me laugh and then finding audience through that shared sense of humour and that's not too uncommon but it is the crux of this show, I've tried to make a something that represents everything I find funny in the space of an hour. It's still a white man doing stand up comedy for an hour, it's too late to change that at this point, but I will be the only one doing jokes written and approved by me and then you can come along and decide if that's a good or a bad thing.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

Fans of silliness, jokes, wordplay, characters, recreational drugs and relatively non-threatening yet sweary whimsy. Also I'd love to meet someone famous like Bruce Willis or Shakira so if they want to come down that would be ideal.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

I'm looking forward to getting a flyer from a young performer with sad, desperate eyes, taking pity on them and watching a nightmare of a play for an hour. Nowhere offers up more vaguely disheartening amateur theatre per hour than the Edinburgh fringe and I love walking into something on the spur of the moment. I don't know what shows I'm going to see yet but I'm looking forward to all of them

See The Andy Field Experience at The Pleasance throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 2nd to 27th August. For tickets visit www.edfringe.com
