Tell us a bit about A Robot In Human Skin?

A Robot In Human Skin is a personal, honest, and whimsical look at mental health through family, art, and love. I've been tackling difficult subjects for years, and this show is no exception. It's a tough subject in some ways, but my first concern is always the audience feeling able to open up to these difficult subjects, so the show has a balance of absurd and comfort.

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

Why not? This is the biggest arts festival in the world. If I'm not bringing a show to Edinburgh, what am I even doing? This is a melting pot of genres and art forms. Audiences are bolder in such a large festival, and the amount of times I've held someone I just met as we both cried and discussed themes of one of my shows, continues to show me the value of honest and personal performance. I have to keep coming back and be a part of this amazing experience.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

A Robot In Human Skin is raw, truthful, but still playful. It's a theatre show, but it's not a play. It will feel for the audience that they are a fly on the wall of my bedroom, as I explore my experiences with mental health issues, in a manner that's intimate and real.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

I would recommend those who also struggle with mental health issues, and those who love these folks, as well as anyone who is keen to see how intimate yet fun a theatre show can be, should come along and see A Robot In Human Skin. I'm hoping to make you laugh, cry, and walk away a changed person, so fingers crossed for at least two out of three!

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

Oh! I'm still putting my list together. I'm hoping to get along to Tomas Ford's Craptacular! I've missed my chance to see it in the past, and I absolutely everything that Tom does, so I've gotta get along to that absurd cabaret goodness! Also, I've gotta see Sian Docksey's Totally Casual and Freewheeling Mystic Comedy: Lemon Torpedo! I've always enjoyed Sian's style of comedy, both as a solo act and as part of Sian and Zoe, she's unique, playful, and doesn't give a fuck. So I live for huh! And obviously I can't miss my fellow Aussie Lauren Bok's Edinburgh premiere with Is That A Burrito In Your Pocket, Or Are You Just Happy You Have A Burrito? Bok is not only a total powerhouse of a person, but a cracking and award-winning comedian, with a fresh, gutsy, and charming style. So I live fo huh too!
