A co-production from the OBIE award-winning HERE Arts Center and The Theatre of a Two-headed Calf, Drum of the Waves of Horikawa will play Wednesday, October 24 - Saturday, November 17 at HERE Arts Center.  Directed by Brooke O'Harra with music by Brendan Connelly, Drum of the Waves of Horikawa is part of HERE's 2007-08 season that includes seven new multi-disciplinary mainstage productions featuring theatre, dance, puppetry and multimedia work.  This production will have its opening on Wednesday, October 24 at 8:30PM.

"Combining live music performed by two drummers, a keyboardist and a bass player with traditional elements of Japanese performance, this production interprets the 18th Century Chikamatsu classic Drum of the Waves of Horikawa that teems with lying, cheating, drinking and assassination," explain press notes, "In this work, The Theatre of a Two-headed Calf founders Brooke O'Harra and Brendan Connelly explore a number of similarities between the styles of 1970s Punk and 18th Century Kabuki - both loud, violent, transgressive and fueled by radical politics."

Drum of the Waves of Horikawa will play as follows at HERE Arts Center (145 Sixth Avenue, one block below Spring Street): Thursday - Saturday at 8:30PM and Sunday at 4PM, with a Wednesday performance on October 24 at 8:30PM.

Tickets are $20.  Student tickets are $15 with valid ID at the box office.  Ticket purchases can be made online at www.here.org, by calling (212) 352-3101 or at the HERE Box Office (4 PM until curtain on show days).  For more info, visit www.here.org.
