Discovery Times Square Launches Three-Day Treasure Hunt Around NYC to Support SHIPWRECK

On May 24, 2013, Discovery Times Square is unveiling its newest exhibit Odyssey's SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasure, in the heart of Manhattan. To kick off this remarkable exhibition, Discovery Times Square is holding a free real-life Treasure Hunt that will be open to the public beginning Monday, May 20, 2013. Awaiting its lucky winner at a top-secret location will be a treasure chest containing an incredible selection of genuine shipwreck artifacts and treasure recovered from the deep ocean, with an approximate retail value of $10,000.The three-day treasure hunt will lead participants throughout New York City on a quest to unearth a series of clues, which will eventually lead them to the final location of the grand prize on Wednesday, May 23.There are two ways to participate, either in-person or online. Those who participate in-person will receive the first clue after registration, which guides them to a location where a pirate holds their next clue between the hours of 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM on each day of the contest. Treasure hunters will use each new clue to determine the location for the pick-up of the next clue the following day. For those participating online, clues will be distributed digitally via email every morning of the contest. Participants can then enter their answers into the contest website between the hours of 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM to receive their next clue via email the following morning.
In order to be eligible for the SHIPWRECK! treasure chest prize worth $10,000, participants must register online athttp://www.discoverytsx.com/shipwreck!-treasure-hunt. Registration will begin at 12:00 AM EDT on May 16. The contest will conclude onMay 22, when the treasure can be claimed at the secret location at 11:00AM EDT by whoever is the first to solve the treasure hunt mystery.SHIPWRECK! is a not to be missed interactive, multi-media exhibit containing more than 500 artifacts from deep-ocean expeditions around the globe including the world premiere of World War II silver recovered from three miles deep. Bringing the most amazing deep-sea discoveries to the crossroads of the world in New York City, the exhibitoffers visitors a unique look into the depths of the ocean through a mix of actual historical artifacts and hands-on, interactive computer games and exhibits. Visitors can put their investigative skills to the test by virtually piloting a submersible over the SS Republic wreck site looking for archaeological clues and an operable model of Odyssey's Remotely Operated Vehicle ZEUS' robotic arm in the exhibit allows guests to try their hand at recovering gold coins. Brave guests can step inside the Hurricane Simulator and experience the high-powered winds that have sunk thousands of ships throughout history.
