Actor and musician David Rowen has produced a new music video for his YouTube channel, davidrowen/creative, featuring two classic songs from the early 2000s. He arranges, and blends together the chart-topping piano ballad, "A Thousand Miles," by Vanessa Carlton, and the platinum punk anthem, "Ocean Avenue," by Yellowcard released in 2002 and 2003, respectively.

The songs are mashed up in a seamless fashion, led by Rowen on the piano and vocals. Featured is pop singer Chelsea M, who was a contestant on season four of The Voice on NBC. The two singers performed together regularly while studying at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, VA; they were both members of JMU's premiere co-ed a cappella group, The Overtones. Joining them is DJ/producer Wilcox, who provides a catchy, rhythmic foundation for the mash-up, as well as backing vocals. His music can be streamed and/or purchased on Spotify and Apple Music.

Rounding out the ensemble is a string quartet studded with two musicians of The Juilliard School: Alice Ping (viola), and Chelsea Smith (violin); and two actor/musicians Elliot Lane (violin), and Sydney Shepherd (cello), who appeared on Broadway in First Date.

The recording was produced by Rowen and Wilcox; the video was filmed by Bryan Berrios, and edited by Rowen.

For anyone who paid attention to music in the early 2000s, this mash-up is sure to be well-received. Check out the video!
