David Burnham (The Light in the Piazza) returns to New York for the Gotham premiere of his new cabaret show celebrating the launch of his solo CD.  The exclusive one-night only concert at The Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street) is on Sunday, October 7 at 9:30PM.

Directed by Ken Sawyer with Christopher Denny as musical director, Burnham's "CD Release Celebration" will highlight selections from his new solo CD, "David Burnham" on the LML Music label, as well as other contemporary theater music and standards.

For The Light in the Piazza he received the prestigious 2007 Helen Hayes Award for "Best Actor" in Washington, DC as well as the 2007 Garland Award for "Best Actor" in Los Angeles.  He appeared with the original Broadway cast of the show on both the Tony Awards and the PBS telecast Live from Lincoln Center.

David Burnham starred as Joseph in the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Dramalogue Award) and in subsequent productions of the show across the United States.  He also appeared as Peter in the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.  He created the role of Fiyero in the pre-Broadway workshops of Wicked.

At Boston's North Shore Music Theatre, Burnham created the role of Tom in the new musical Tom Jones as well as the character Billy (opposite Maureen McGovern) in the new musical Letters from 'Nam, a role which he reprised at the Kennedy Center and in Seattle.  In Chicago, he originated the role of Charlie in the world premiere of the musical Peggy Sue Got Married.

In New York City, he was in the recent Actors' Fund production of On the 20th Century at the New Amsterdam Theatre and was featured in "The Bill Russell Songbook" concert retrospective.

The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 West 22nd Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues). There is a $20 cover charge and a two-drink minimum for David Burnham's concert.  Call 212-206-0440 for reservations or visit www.metropolitanroom.com or www.davidburnham.com.
