DOWNTON ABBEY's Penelope Wilton, 'BAKE OFF' Host Mel Giedroyc and More Read Children's Stories Starting Tonight at The Print Room

The Print Room at the Coronet in Notting Hill Gate presents WINTER'S TALES, reviving the simple pleasure of children's story-telling in a magical Christmas setting from tonight 6 December to Monday 18 December.

The stories have been chosen and will be read by a host of stars from the Coronet's beautiful stage, transformed into a wintery setting, complete with Santa's Grotto and space for making Christmas decorations, with warming mulled wine or spiced apple juice afterwards.

Mel Giedroyc reads The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding by Agatha Christie
Mel Giedroyc, best known as one half of Mel and Sue, the original Great British Bake Off hosts, reads from an Agatha Christie classic. Detective Hercule Poirot is enjoying a Christmasbreak in an English country house when a sinister plum pudding sets off a trail of baffling cases.... Recommended for ages 8+

Emeli Sandé: The Happy Prince and other stories by Oscar Wilde
Four-time BRIT winner and platinum selling singer-songwriter, Emeli Sandé MBE, reads a selection of Oscar Wilde's celebrated magical tales for children. Recommended for ages 5+

Friday 8 December 2 pm
Penelope Wilton reads from Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner by AA Milne
Olivier Award-winner and Downtown Abbey star Penelope Wilton reads stories of the nation's favourite bear and friends, Piglet, Eeyore and the rest of the gang. Recommended for ages 4+

Saturday 9 December 6 pm
Ben Okri reads Where's Buddha? and The Tortoise
Booker Prize-winning novelist and poet Ben Okri reads Where's Buddha?, his own short story written especially for Winter's Tales, and The Tortoise, a classic African folk tale. Dancer Charlotte Jarvis adds a sparkling choreographic accompaniment. Recommended for ages 4+

Sunday 10 December 6 pm
Toby Stephens reads The Twits by Roald Dahl
Actor Toby Stephens, best known for his roles in Jane Eyre, Black Sails and as Bond villain, Gustav Graves in Die Another Day, reads the hilarious and disgusting tale of Mr and Mrs Twit. Recommended for ages 5+

Tuesday 12 December 6 pm
Tom Hollander reads from Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl
Tom Hollander, star of TV's Rev, and films Pirates of the Caribbean and In the Loop, continues more from Roald Dahl, this time in verse form. Dahl's Revolting Rhymes reinterpret well-known fairy tales resulting in some very surprising endings. Recommended for ages 5+

Monday 18 December 2 pm
Shappi Khorsandi reads from Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling
Comedian and regular Just a Minute, Have I Got News for You and QI panellist, Shappi Khorsandi, reads from Kipling's timeless tales of fantastic explanations for elephants' trunks and camels' humps. Recommended for ages 4+

Monday 18 December 6 pm
Jamie Glover reads from Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales
Actor and director, Jamie Glover, reads much loved Hans Christian Andersen classics including The Emperor's New Clothes and Thumbelina. Recommended for ages 6+

A pop-up book shop by courtesy of Lutyens & Rubinstein will be open every day, selling a carefully curated selection of children's books including those featured in the programme.
