Comedy Dynamics Announces Partnership with SF Sketchfest

By: Dec. 18, 2014

New comedy channel Comedy Dynamics is happy to announce its first partnership with SF Sketchfest. In addition to being a major sponsor, (along with Funny or Die, SF Weekly and others), Comedy Dynamics will also be represented on the ground by President Brian Volk-Weiss, who will be a featured panelist at the 14th Annual Festival. Other highlights of SF Sketchfest include: A Tribute to This is Spinal Tap creators Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer, "Weird Al" Yankovic in conversation with the Nerdist Chris Hardwick and a Newsradio 20th Anniversary cast reunion.

Brian Volk-Weiss is the President of Production for New Wave Entertainment, the largest independent producer and distributor of one-hour comedy specials in the United States. New Wave recently created and launched the Comedy Dynamics channel on Hulu, Roku, iOS, Android and Amazon devices. It opens the vault to New Wave's archives of stand-up specials, clips, behind-the-scenes footage and documentaries. Additionally, Comedy Dynamics allows comedy fans access to vintage specials from the '70s, '80s, and '90s through Comedy Dynamics Classics. "I'm excited about our collaboration with SF Sketchfest," states Volk-Weiss. Adding, "The people at Sketchfest are the type of people that Comedy Dynamics enjoys working with, artist driven!"

New Wave works with A-list comedic talent including Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Chelsea Peretti and Katt Williams. As President of Production, Volk-Weiss oversees production, development, and distribution of all original content New Wave produces; collaborating with companies such as HBO, Netflix, Showtime, USA, TBS, Comedy Centra, and ABC.

SF Sketchfest was founded in 2001 by David Owen, Cole Stratton and Janet Varney as a way to showcase the talents of six Bay Area sketch comedy groups: The Fresh Robots, Kasper Hauser, The Meehan Brothers, Please Leave the Bronx, Totally False People and White Noise Radio Theatre. The 14th Annual SF Sketchfest boasts a line-up like no other covering 18 days and 20 venues. From a humble 80-seat theatre in year one back in 2002, this festival has become a beast expanding all over San Francisco attracting some of the biggest line ups of the sketch, stand-up, podcast, TV, and film worlds.

Audiences have overwhelmingly responded to SF Sketchfest's diverse programming which has featured performers from every major North American television comedy smash of the last 25 years including Saturday Night Live, The Kids in the Hall, Mr. Show, Arrested Development, The Upright Citizens Brigade, The State, Mystery Science Theatre 3000, Strangers With Candy, The Simpsons, The Daily Show and more. SF Sketchfest offers its audiences the rare opportunity to see their favorite performers in intimate live performances and discussions.
