After initially being drawn to perform in front of audiences as a lead guitar player in his home state of Mississippi, Truett S. Beasley Jr. [thanks dad!] was given his stage name when an enthusiastic audience member screamed out after a guitar solo, "That was killer, Beaz!" The name stuck. And when he made the move to the comedy stage, he took the name with him.
