Gallagher, the comedian known for his odd fondness for smashing watermelons on stage, is letting his audiences take over the fruit smashing for a while, after suffering from his fifth heart attack.

According to Mlive.com, fans of Gallager's can witness his comedic chops and penchant for destroying fruit, at his last performance in West Michigan. The show is set for 7 pm on October 5 at the Ceglarek Fine arts Center in Allendale, 10760 68th Ave.

Although Gallagher was a central figure in comedy in the 80's, recently his opinions on politics and his brand of social commentary have alienated him from audiences outside of the Midwest.

"The crowds I play to in [the Midwest] are the ones I see myself sitting in," Gallagher said. "New York and L.A. not so much."

Doors open at 5 p.m. Reserved seating in the "Smash zone" is $30, all other reserved seats are $20. Tickets can be purchased at iTickets.com. Proceeds go to the Fine Arts Center Concert Series.
