Previously located at www.carolchanning.net, the website features a biography, photos, booking info and information about the Hello, Dolly! star's one-woman show "The First Eighty Years are the Hardest," as well as on her new scholarship foundation."The First Eighty Years are the Hardest," first performed in 2003, received a hit run at Feinstein's at the Regency last fall. "An unplugged evening that follows a simple format, Carol offers ninety minutes or more of memories, humorous storytelling and, of course, several of her signature tunes, including 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend,' 'Little Girl From Little Rock' and, of course, the title song from Hello, Dolly!, that brings the audience up close," according to the website.Channing recently joined 23 California state universities in announcing the Foundation of the Doctor Carol Channing Endownment of the Arts. The star, who in 2005 received an honorary doctoral degree at the 44th annual California State University's Stanislaus Commencement ceremony, "has been extremely involved with programs at CSU Stanislaus. Now, Channing, who has devoted her life to entertaining millions of people around the world, has expressed a desire to devote a large part of her remaining years to teaching and performing in California schools. That endeavor will start with her October 8 performance at the Bernell and Flora Snider Recital Hall at CSU Stanislaus entitled 'A Salute to the Arts.' The funds will be used to offer scholarships to students showing the aptitude and talent for furthering their education in the arts."Videos
