CHALK OUTLINE PORTAL Extends at Theaterlab
Performances will run through Saturday, May 23.
Following a sold-out opening weekend, Welcome to Campfire's newest immersive danceplay Chalk Outline Portal has added a final extension, with performances to run from Tuesday, May 19 through Saturday, May 23 at Theaterlab in Midtown Manhattan.
Created and directed by Tony Bordonaro and Ingrid Kapteyn, Chalk Outline Portal is an interactive performance experience that lassos dance, live sound mixing, real-time video feed, and gaming mechanics in a surreal romp through spacetime. Self-selected audience members with Player tickets have multiple chances to direct the performers using old-school Nintendo controllers. The production officially opened this weekend to packed houses and immediate audience response.
Somewhere between a ritual, a simulation, and a cosmic comedy show, Chalk Outline Portal traverses grief, consciousness, and the fluidity of self.
“After the response this weekend, we're thrilled to extend the run one final time and invite more audiences into the portal,” says creator Tony Bordonaro. Adds Ingrid Kapteyn, “we can feel audiences responding to the true vulnerability, risk, and trust that are baked into the work. You come for a show and leave having gone on a soul-baring ride.”
Welcome to Campfire is the story-making platform of Tony Bordonaro and Ingrid Kapteyn. Merging dance and theater, their live and film productions immerse performers and audiences in dystopian futures that both endanger and engender human intimacy. Their work has been recommended by TimeOut NY, Playbill, No Proscenium, and Dance Magazine, and their films Subject and The Pigeon and the Mouse are available globally on Broadway On Demand and the Emmys OTT platform.
