The 11th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival Presents The Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame induction and award ceremony to take place on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Brooklyn Historical Society in Brooklyn Heights.

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium (CBJC) created the Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame eleven years ago to recognize unheralded and renowned jazz musicians who call(ed) Brooklyn home. A museum component was created in 2009 to archive the rich jazz tradition of this borough for future generations.

CBJC awards individuals in four different categories and inducts musicians into the Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame (BJHoFame) annually during its Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival. The awardees for 2010 include: The Jazz Spot - Jazz Shrine Award, venue noted for memorable performances; Parker McAllister - Deacon Leroy Applin "Young Lion/Lioness Award, outstanding musician under age of thirty; Dr. Sam Pinn and Harold Valle - Jazz Impact Award, innovators who has made significant contribution to the community's appreciation of Jazz; Kenny Barron - Lifetime Achievement Award, living master musician who will be inducted in hall of fame upon their transition and Ulysses Slaughter - Hall of Fame Inductee, bestowed upon a master musician who has made their transition.

Invited guests from the cultural industries, government, business and faith based institutions will honor these great artists. For information call 718.773.2252 or write to info@cbjcjazz.org.
