Written by Ruth Goetz and Augustus Goetz, it played for 117 performances at the Walter Kerr Theatre, led by Jessica Chastain and Dan Stevens (in their Broadway debuts), with Judith Ivey and David Strathairn. Originally adapted from the 1880 Henry James novel Washington Square, the play was made famous in by the 1949 film adaptation starring Olivia de Havilland and Montgomery Clift.
