85 year-old Broadway actress, Patti Karr, whose credits include My Fair Lady, The Rink, and Pippin, suffered minor injuries this week after being struck by a discarded, flying Christmas tree

The incident happened on a windy Monday, one week ago. The actress was walking her dog on the Upper West Side when the object collided with her.

"It was just out of nowhere," Karr said.

Karr's has no recollection of the incident beyond stepping off the curb at 76th Street. Her next memory is waking up in an ambulance.

The actress recalls, "I said, 'What's the matter? What happened?' And they had to tell me what happened. It made me laugh almost, except that it hurt too bad."

A witness confirmed that the windy weather had launched the tree from the sidewalk, where it collided with the actress, knocking her unconscious. Ms. Karr has reported that she sustained no major injuryies or broken bones beyond some bruising on her left side.

According to CBS, "The city Department of Sanitation said it was supposed to pick up Christmas trees from Jan. 4 through Jan. 14. But the department said it "responded to three snow alerts, which required sending out hundreds of plows and spreaders within that time period."

Karr has no present plans to file a lawsuit against the city and urges them to dispose of the discarded trees more quickly.
