Broadway singer Glenn Rainey of Disney's Beauty and the
Beast will perform classic R&B hits on December 13th, 2004 in an original
show called "Blue-Eyed Soul" at the Triad theatre on West 72nd Street at 9:15pm.
This special one night only event will be a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity
Fights AIDS.
"The show is comprised of songs by vocalists and
songwriters, who influenced my life, love of music and vocal style." says
Rainey. The show will feature memorable songs which have been written and
performed by artists such as, Ray Charles, Otis Retting, Stevie Wonder, Elton
John and many others to include favorites like "Georgia On My Mind",
"Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay", and "Signed, Sealed Delivered"
as well as some classic gospel songs.
As if Glenn Rainey weren't
talent enough alone, the evening is packed with special Broadway guest singers
including Barbara Folts, Jennifer Marcum, Sarah Solie, Lynn Losier and Stefanie
Fink. Peter Flynn leaves the Broadway stage for an evening to direct this
special event with Musical direction by Greg Beck of Broadway's 42nd
street.
Glen's credits include on Broadway: Beauty and the Beast.

The evening will also
feature special guest singers of The Broadway Inspirational Voices. Broadway
Inspirational Voices, founded in December of 1999, is a gospel ensemble
comprised of actors performing on and off Broadway. Some of the shows
represented are Aida, Rent, Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, Cabaret and
Off-Broadway's Godspel, Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and many more. In
addition, the choir has performed on "The Rosie O'Donnell Christmas Special,"
the Broadway Sings Elton John Benefit for Broadway Cares, The Christopher Reeve
Paralysis Foundation Benefit, the "Tony Awards 2000" and OpSail 2000 on the 4th
of July for President and Mrs. Clinton.
These Broadway stars are coming
out to participate in this event to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
(BC/EFA). The BC/EFA is the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS
fundraising and grant making organization. BC/EFA is the on-going, committed
response from the American Theatre community to an urgent worldwide health
crisis. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of this
community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States.
Since its founding in 1988, BC/EFA has raised over $100 million for critically
needed services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.
