The holidays are a hectic travel time for all. To ensure a positive travel experience follow these simple steps for traveling with your pet during the Holidays from the Help 'Em Up Harness.

Check airline and hotel pet policies. This may go without saying, but it is important that travelers are familiar with pet policies for all transportation services and hotels they plan on using during the vacation.

Choose a pet friendly destination. To avoid any inconvenience, opt for a getaway where pets are welcome at many local venues and can accompany their owners.

Plan ahead. With families flying across country to reunite or planning a family Caribbean excursion instead of the traditionAl White Christmas, the Holidays are the peak time for travel in the United States. If taking a pet be sure to make your reservations early, especially for airlines where cabin space for pets is extremely limited.

Prepare for the worst. Flight delays are extremely common. Come prepared. For small dogs, pack pet toys to keep our furry friends occupied. Also Help 'Em Up Harness suggests taping food to the outside of the pet carrier in case you encounter lengthy flight delays.

Make sure to have the pet's I.D. and immunization records. If you are separated for any reason proper identification tags and marked pet carriers will help you find your pet easily.

Get ready for the long haul. When driving with a pet be sure to bring plenty of treats, toys, water, and bedding to make them comfy.

Take special care of the old ones. Older pets need more breaks and TLC when travelling. Long trips in the car can become painful for dogs with joint troubles or arthritis. Bring extra pain medication and blankets. Consider using a harness like The Help 'Em Up Harness to help them in and out of the car. Owners with dogs suffering from cataracts or that are sight impaired use the harness as a guide to help steer them around foreign obstacles at someone else's home.
